“Tempering the body with cold water” is sourced in Victoria Boutenko’s book, 12 Steps to Raw foods, and continually referenced in raw vegan circles.
Simply, it involves submerging our bodies in water with a temperature below 12°C (53°F) for 1 to 2 minutes.
The effects are amazing:
1. Re-activates cells leading to a younger appearance:
-”During the brief application of cold water, blood vessels in the skin abruptly contract, pushing a large amount of blood inside the organism.
-This re-activates inner capillaries, which are typically atrophied by age 30, due to an unhealthy lifestyle.
-The regeneration of many capillaries ensures that inner organs receive the necessary nutrients for optimal performance.
-This results in the younger appearance of cold-water swimmers.”
2. Destroys diseased cells and reverses disease:
-Scientists demonstrated that this causes the body to find diseased cells and destroy them, reversing many degenerative diseases of liver, kidneys, and heart, as well as mental problems.
3. Purges free radicals:
-Tempering the body with cold water increases the rate of the metabolism. This brings about the purging of free radicals, heavy metals, nitrates, and pesticides. Additionally this cleansing occurs via skin and lungs, and unloads the burden on the kidneys.
4. Dramatically strengthens immunity:
-While constantly protecting ourselves from cold and heat, we keep our bodies at the same temp, disabling our natural systems of thermal regulation.
-When exposed to cold, an organism that has not been trained to regulate its temperature loses its heat ~30 times faster than a tempered body. One can get sick from minor changes in outside temperatures, e.g. waiting five minutes in the rain.
Our guests will definitely be taking a quick cold dip at the Georgian Bay beach this coming spring.
